American Legion Post 3 Greenville, SC Color Guard / Honor Guard
Charles Rouse, Commanding
Our Post 3 Color/Honor Guard provides a number of services for the community, including Military Funeral Honors for veterans of all services.
Honoring Those Who Served
The rendering of Military Funeral Honors is a way to show the nation’s deep gratitude to those who have faithfully defended our country, in times of war and peace. The ceremonial paying of respect is the final demonstration a grateful nation can provide to its veterans’ families.
The Post 3 Honor Guard is an Authorized Provider as provided by Congress and the Secretary of Defense. As such we may support a detail of members of the Armed Forces or conduct a full program. A program protocol may consist of a Rifle Squad, firing three volleys, sounding of TAPS (by bugle), folding of the casket flag and presentation of the flag to the next of kin.
Any veteran who served in the Armed Forces and received a discharge under honorable conditions is eligible for Military Funeral Honors. If the deceased veteran’s family wishes, the family should request “Military Funeral Honors” for their loved one through their funeral director. The Post 3 Honor Guard team stands ready to perform this service.
